Foxing have taken the difficult second record with grace and intelligence.
No note feels rushed or trite. There’s an openness to the record that suggests it was birthed without ideas of constraint. After just a few spins, ‘The Magdalene’ and ‘Eiffel’ stand out. This is emo with all the hallmarks of its true forefathers – it’s graceful and poignant and moving. At one point, the band were having to cancel shows after all their equipment was stolen and against the odds, here’s album number two.
In its infancy it would be unfair to compare it to The Albatross, but make no mistake, Dealer is a studious and compelling listen.
