Squeeze – City Hall – 2nd Oct

squeeze_1115Being lumbered with the new Lennon/McCartney tag during the 1970’s was probably something Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford could have done without, but there was no doubt their unique blend of catchy tunes and vignettes of everyday life soundtracked many people’s lives. At Sheffield City Hall in front of an enthusiastic audience they played all their most memorable songs from this period interspersed with all the tunes from their new album Cradle to the Grave, more reflective maybe but songs, like the title track Happy Days and Sunny showed that the they have still got it. When the audience got restless there was always a Tempted, Is that Love and Pulling Mussels from a shell to get them back on their feet. Review by Mick Greenfield. Pic by Kieran White
